Four Seasons Tented Camp Named Thailand’s Best Upcountry Hotel for 2025

Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle in Northern Thailand has been named Best Upcountry Hotel in Thailand as part of the Travel + Leisure Luxury Awards Asia Pacific 2025

The annual awards, based on votes from readers across the region, spotlight top-tier hospitality destinations, with this year’s recognition highlighting the Camp’s tailored approach to guest experiences that integrate luxury, nature, and local culture.

Located at the junction of Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar, the Camp offers 15 tented accommodations and two Explorer’s Lodges that blend into the surrounding bamboo forest and overlook the Ruak River.

According to the property’s leadership, the setting is only part of its appeal. “What makes this place special isn’t just the setting. It’s the stillness,” said Paweena Waraha, camp manager.

“Guests arrive seeking adventure but leave with something far more lasting: clarity, calm, and connection.”

The hospitality approach centers on personalized experiences designed to reflect the landscape and heritage of the Golden Triangle region. These include curated treks to hillside villages, Mekong River excursions, and immersive workshops in traditional crafts.

Guests are also introduced to regional cuisines through the Camp’s onsite Nong Yao Restaurant and evening events such as Kanthok dinners, which feature dishes inspired by Thai, Laotian, and Burmese culinary traditions.

“Every dish speaks to the land,” Camp Chef Sirintip Sianglert said in a press release. “From mountain herbs to seasonal produce, the flavours are deeply rooted in this region’s heritage.”

The property also offers wellness services in an open-air spa where local herbs and healing traditions are incorporated into treatments.

“Each treatment is designed to meet guests where they are—physically, emotionally, and spiritually—and bring them back into balance through the wisdom of Thai healing,” said Jutatip Sakulpanitcharoen, spa supervisor.

Sustainability is another cornerstone of the camp’s model, with initiatives that include composting organic waste, sourcing food locally, and offering low-impact activities.

Community-based programming is integrated into the guest experience, including traditional weaving and fishing sessions with local residents. These efforts aim to foster deeper guest understanding while supporting regional livelihoods and environmental preservation.

For outdoor hospitality operators, the Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle offers an example of how high-end experiential travel can be tied closely to sustainability, culture, and local engagement.

The camp’s success, as underscored by its 2025 award, reflects growing consumer demand for personalized, immersive stays that are sensitive to their environmental and cultural context.

“Being recognized in this way is a true testament to the passion and dedication of our team,” said Sean Mosher, General Manager of Four Seasons Chiang Mai and Tented Camp Golden Triangle.

“At the Camp, we create space for guests to embrace adventures, connect with nature, and discover the magic of the Golden Triangle in an unforgettable way.”
