A new year-round glamping project is underway in the Stary Oskol urban district, where ten geodesic domes will be installed at the Krasnye Kusty (Red Bushes) campsite.
According to Vladimir Zhdanov, head of the Stary Oskol city district administration, the initiative is being supported by Russia’s federal “Tourism and Hospitality” program.
While a timeline for the build-out has not been released, the site is expected to significantly upgrade the region’s outdoor accommodation offering.
Zhdanov confirmed that the glamping units will be equipped with modern amenities designed to support year-round stays.
“As part of the investment project, a modern glamping will be created, including ten comfortable geodomes. All of them will be installed on insulated wooden platforms and equipped with combined bathrooms, underfloor heating, kitchen appliances, as well as ramps for people with limited mobility,” he told Fonar.TV.
He also noted that the project includes full utility hookups to each dome, including water, sewerage, and electricity.
The Red Bushes campsite, where the domes will be located, has been operating since 2021 and currently accommodates up to 450 guests across 150 tents. It also offers rental equipment and, as of this year, features a new coffee shop called “Coffee in the Forest.”
The glamping expansion is being financed through a co-investment model. Half of the capital is being provided by private businesses, with the remaining half coming from a state subsidy.
Local officials believe this public-private partnership approach enables infrastructure improvements that help boost tourism in regional areas.
For business owners in the outdoor hospitality sector, this project illustrates how collaboration between local authorities and the private sector can facilitate accessible, all-season accommodation infrastructure.
Features such as heated floors and accessible design indicate a focus on inclusivity and comfort—both key trends in modern glamping.
Additionally, tapping into government-supported tourism programs may offer a pathway for similar developments in other regions seeking to expand their year-round appeal.
