Walking Track Opens as Kotli Sattian Glamping Resort Nears Launch

A walking track has been opened in Kotli Sattian, while a glamping resort developed by the Punjab Tourism Development Corporation is expected to be inaugurated later this month as part of broader efforts to promote tourism in northern Punjab.

The developments were outlined by Bilal Yameen Satti, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Member of the Provincial Assembly from the area.

According to Dawn, Mr Satti said Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, working under the policy direction of Tourism Minister Marriyam Aurangzeb, has prioritised tourism development in the northern region of the province, often referred to as the “Alps” of Punjab.

According to Mr Satti, the aim is to link Kotli Sattian, the Panj Peer Rocks area of Kahuta, and Murree into a single tourism circuit. He said this would mark the beginning of increased tourism and hiking activity across the region.

The newly opened walking track connects Milad Chowk to the Fire Watchtower and runs through forested mountainous terrain. “The fragrance in the air, heart-touching scenery, and serenity of nature make the route quite captivating,” he said.

Deputy Commissioner Murree Aghar Zaheer Abbas Shirazi said the Cheora Glamping Resort Ring project in Kotli Sattian is nearing completion. He added that the Department of Tourism, Archaeology and Museums, Punjab, is working in coordination with district authorities to establish modern tourist centres in both Kotli Sattian and Murree, where visitors will have access to a range of facilities.

The deputy commissioner said the district administration, acting in line with the chief minister’s development agenda, has focused on tourism-related infrastructure and services across the district. “Very soon, Murree and Kotli Sattian will emerge as world-class tourist destinations, providing excellent facilities to domestic and foreign tourists,” he said.

For outdoor hospitality and glamping operators, the project highlights a growing trend in Pakistan toward government-led destination development, particularly in scenic but underdeveloped regions.

The emphasis on walking tracks, clustered attractions, and publicly backed glamping infrastructure suggests future opportunities for private operators in accommodation, services, and destination partnerships.

However, local residents from Kotli Sattian and Kahuta tehsil have stressed that road connectivity remains a critical issue, calling on the provincial government to develop a dual-carriageway link to support sustained tourism growth along the Murree–Kahuta–Kotli Sattian corridor.
