On October 1, 2025, NTT Landscape will launch “LScamp Yamanakako,” a technology-integrated campsite in Minamitsuru District, Yamanashi Prefecture.
The facility is designed to address common concerns for families camping with children, such as safety, hygiene, and entertainment, while offering a new type of outdoor experience.
The opening reflects the continued demand for family-oriented outdoor recreation in Japan following the COVID-19 pandemic.
While camping has grown in popularity, NTT Landscape noted that families often faced limitations when it came to child-friendly activities, worries about children wandering off, and concerns about sanitation at campgrounds.
The company’s new development is positioned as a response to these issues.
The campsite is fully equipped with Wi-Fi and uses digital tools to complement traditional camping.
Planned offerings include children’s events that blend nature with XR (cross-reality) technology, such as a treasure hunt game that allows elementary school students to explore both the physical environment and a digital recreation of Lake Yamanaka built in Minecraft.
NTT Landscape clarified that this activity is independently organized and not an official Minecraft event.
Additional safety measures include lending smartwatches to children at check-in, allowing parents to track their location through GPS. The facility will also deploy drones to deter wildlife such as deer and crows, addressing issues like droppings and litter caused by animals entering the grounds.
Infrastructure improvements include high-standard toilets, shower facilities with free use, and a kitchen with hot water, according to @DIME.
For lodging, trailer houses equipped with smart home features will be available as part of a demonstration project. These units will allow voice control of lighting, curtains, and air conditioning, while also offering immersive projector-based entertainment.
The site, located in the eastern Lake Yamanaka area with views of Mt. Fuji, will also provide playgrounds, plazas, and a dog run.
A mobile ordering and delivery service using electric vehicles is planned to deliver items such as local products, charcoal, and firewood directly to guests’ sites.
For business owners in the outdoor hospitality sector, NTT Landscape’s model illustrates how integrating technology into traditional camping can address persistent customer concerns while appealing to new demographics.
The emphasis on family safety, digital entertainment, and modern amenities provides insight into how campgrounds can diversify offerings to remain competitive as consumer expectations evolve.
