Wonderla Holidays Launches “The Isle” Boutique Retreat in Bengaluru

Wonderla Holidays, a leading operator in India’s amusement park sector, has announced the launch of “The Isle,” a Rs 39-crore boutique retreat adjacent to its Bengaluru amusement park.

The move signals the company’s formal entry into the premium leisure and hospitality market, coinciding with its 25th anniversary.

Spread across 4.5 acres, the 39-key property introduces an aqua-themed retreat aimed at urban families, destination wedding clients, long-stay travelers, and corporate groups seeking nature-led getaways.

The Isle includes a variety of accommodations such as private pool cottages, hammock suites, glamping tents, starlight rooms, and a treehouse. Nightly rates range from Rs 10,000 to Rs 17,000, depending on room type.

The retreat is designed with a low-footprint approach and includes amenities such as a temperature-controlled pool, pet-friendly zones, a spa, and a 62-seat pan-Asian restaurant. A poolside wine cocktail bar and campfire courtyard are also part of the offerings.

“The Isle by Wonderla is not just another resort, it represents a new direction,” said Arun K. Chittilappilly, Executive Chairman and Managing Director of Wonderla Holidays.

“Our parks are known for thrill and energy, but we’ve also observed a growing demand for quiet, immersive, and nature-led escapes. This property is our answer to that.”

Designed by Reshma Karmarkar, CEO and Chief Architect of Design Matters, the development emphasizes natural integration and slow living. “We didn’t want to build just another hotel,” said Dheeran Choudhary, COO of Wonderla Holidays.

“The intention was to create a sanctuary. Somewhere that feels like an island escape but is just a short drive from Bengaluru.” He added, “It’s experiential, it’s mindful, and yet comfortably modern.”

This expansion reflects a growing trend in the Indian hospitality sector where companies are seeking to extend visitor engagement beyond single-day experiences.

By adding accommodations to its entertainment offerings, Wonderla aims to increase guest spending and broaden its appeal.

“This is a model that global leisure destinations already follow. Disneyland, Universal, they all have stay options that extend the experience beyond the gates. We’re pioneering that in India,” Chittilappilly told Money Control.

For outdoor hospitality operators and glamping businesses, Wonderla’s strategic shift offers a case study in diversification.

The company’s decision to cater to a mass-premium market with both traditional and non-traditional lodging, including glamping tents and treehouses, demonstrates how entertainment and nature-based accommodations can coexist to enhance guest value.

This type of integrated model may become increasingly relevant as domestic travel demand in India evolves from budget outings to more immersive, upscale getaways.

Wonderla currently operates amusement parks in Kochi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Bhubaneswar. “The Isle” will be operated as a separate brand, designed to cater to a different audience segment than its amusement parks.
