IHCL Launches First Lakshadweep Property with Coral Pearl Glamping Resort

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has officially expanded its footprint into the Lakshadweep archipelago with the launch of Coral Pearl, Lakshadweep – IHCL SeleQtions

The announcement marks the company’s first venture in the region, introducing a new glamping destination on Bangaram Island aimed at travelers seeking nature-based luxury.

Coral Pearl is situated on Bangaram Island in the Arabian Sea, a location known for its remote setting and marine biodiversity.

The property includes 50 upscale glamping tents, each constructed with floor-to-ceiling glass panels to provide panoramic views of the surrounding seascape. The design emphasizes earthy textures and subdued color palettes to complement the island’s natural aesthetics.

Dining options at the resort include Smok, an all-day restaurant offering a selection of contemporary Indian, Continental, and Asian dishes, and Calypso, a sea-inspired bar designed to offer a laid-back experience for guests.

Activities available at the resort range from snorkelling and scuba diving to kayaking and nature trails, offering opportunities for guests to explore the region’s underwater life and coastal environment.

IHCL’s Executive Vice President – Operations, Prabhat Verma, highlighted the strategic significance of this opening.

“The opening of Coral Pearl on Bangaram Island invites travellers to explore the beauty of Lakshadweep, one of India’s most pristine island getaways.

As part of the IHCL – SeleQtions brand, the hotel embodies its commitment to offering distinctive experiences rooted in the local essence,” Verma stated in a report by BW Hotelier.

Kashish Singh, General Manager of the new property, described the resort as a blend of modern hospitality and regional character.

“Coral Pearl, Lakshadweep – IHCL SeleQtions is designed as an immersive experience where luxury meets the natural rhythm of island life. From rich local cuisine to untouched natural beauty, guests are invited to relax and explore the destination,” Singh said.

For business owners in the outdoor hospitality and glamping sectors, this launch highlights growing investment and interest in remote, experience-driven tourism in ecologically sensitive areas.

The use of upscale glamping as a platform for sustainable luxury aligns with broader trends favoring low-impact lodging solutions that maintain a connection to local culture and environment.

Operators considering expansion or product differentiation in similar coastal or insular markets can view this development as a case study in balancing high-end guest experiences with ecological mindfulness.

With the launch of Coral Pearl in early May 2025, IHCL adds another destination under its SeleQtions brand, reinforcing the potential of premium glamping to appeal to a growing segment of eco-conscious and experience-seeking travelers.
