29 Sites Identified for Caravan Parks in Gujarat as State Invites Expressions of Interest

The Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited (TCGL) has released an Expression of Interest (EOI) seeking participation from industry stakeholders to develop caravan tourism infrastructure across Gujarat.

The initiative is designed to stimulate interest in caravan-based travel and shape a broader policy framework that could support tourism diversification in the state.

According to TCGL, the EOI aims to gather input from a range of sectors involved in caravan tourism, including caravan manufacturers, tour operators, infrastructure providers, repair and waste management services, and safety experts.

These contributions are expected to inform the state’s future Caravan Tourism Policy and support the drafting of tenders for developing dedicated caravan parks.

The corporation has identified 29 potential sites for caravan park development, spanning coastal areas, forests, hills, and heritage zones.

These locations include Saputara in Dangs, Ekta Nagar near the Statue of Unity in Narmada, and the salt desert region of Dhordo in Kutch.

Other sites listed include Ahmedpur Mandvi, Bhalchhel, Polo Forest, Velavadar, and Wilson Hill, suggesting a deliberate effort to distribute caravan facilities across different ecological and tourism zones.

According to DeshGujarat, the EOI is open to private and public limited companies, LLPs, and proprietorship firms with a minimum of five years of operations in India.

Applicants must also have achieved an average annual turnover of at least ₹50 lakh in any three consecutive financial years between FY 2021–22 and FY 2024–25. The last date for physical submission of interest is June 24, 2025, by 3:00 PM.

“This EOI is not an agreement and does not constitute any offer or invitation by the Authority to the prospective applicants or any other party,” the document clarifies.

For stakeholders in the outdoor hospitality, caravan, and glamping industries, Gujarat’s caravan tourism initiative presents opportunities for early involvement in shaping a growing travel segment.

With multiple development-ready sites and state-level backing, the program could become a model for other Indian states considering similar initiatives.

Industry participants with relevant capabilities may find value in evaluating the locations and aligning their services with anticipated demand, especially as policies and infrastructure begin to take form through public-private collaboration.
