Skydream (Chongqing) Technology Co., Ltd. has completed back-to-back angel and Pre-A funding rounds, raising a combined RMB 80 million (approximately USD 11.1 million) to accelerate development of its high-end intelligent towable RVs for global markets.
The Chongqing-based company combines China’s advanced manufacturing supply chain, new energy systems and intelligent driving technologies from the passenger vehicle sector with smart home solutions and mature R&D and manufacturing experience drawn from Europe and North America, according to an article by pandaily.
The goal is to build a new generation of premium electric towable RVs tailored to international demand.
At the core of Skydream’s strategy is what it describes as the industry’s only independently developed passenger-car-grade electric towable skateboard chassis.
Built on a native integrated platform and powered by an AI-driven chassis “brain,” the system merges energy management, intelligent driving and vehicle control into a unified architecture.
Its energy system includes lithium iron phosphate battery packs ranging from 45 kWh to 85 kWh, paired with solar charging capability that allows up to 14 days of off-grid operation.
The platform also enables external power output, positioning the RV as a mobile energy storage unit capable of supporting EV charging or serving as emergency household power.
On the software side, Skydream says it has developed the world’s first full-scenario intelligent driver assistance system specifically for RVs.
Through perception and planning algorithms, the system enables automated parking and one-touch trailer hitching, reducing complex towing maneuvers to less than 60 seconds.
Inside the cabin, a centralized intelligent control system replaces scattered buttons with a single touchscreen interface and full voice control, coordinating vehicle systems and living space functions.
According to Frost & Sullivan, the global RV parc reached approximately 23 million units in 2024, with towable RVs accounting for more than 70 per cent.
By 2026, global RV sales are projected to hit 768,000 units, generating nearly RMB 300 billion (about USD 41.7 billion) in revenue, driven largely by demand in North America and Europe.
While much of the current market still relies on internal combustion and mechanical systems, electrification and intelligent features are increasingly shaping purchasing decisions among younger buyers.
Founder Yang Jie brings more than two decades of automotive experience, including leadership roles at SAIC Passenger Vehicles, Ford and Changan Mazda.
The broader team includes veterans from RV, automotive and smart home companies, with an average of over 12 years of industry experience.
Skydream is targeting North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand with three towable product lines: the A Series for all-terrain use, the R Series for lightweight road-focused travel and the F Series for off-road applications.
Full-function prototypes have been completed, with energy and electrical systems fully integrated. Mass production is planned to begin in 2026.
In Australia, the company has secured a strategic partnership with a local RV group and has already obtained orders worth several hundred million RMB.
The collaboration will focus on vehicle development, technology R&D, localized manufacturing and distribution to accelerate market entry.
As electrification and intelligent integration gain momentum, Skydream’s funding and technology push underscore the accelerating transformation underway in the RV industry.
