Natural Selection to Launch Eco-Luxury Safari Camp in Namibia’s Kaokoland by 2026

Natural Selection has announced plans to open a new safari camp, Hoanib Elephant Camp, in Namibia’s Kaokoland region in May 2026.

The property, designed as a low-impact, solar-powered tented camp, aims to offer travelers access to remote desert landscapes and wildlife encounters while contributing to local conservation efforts and community partnerships.

The camp will be located in northwestern Namibia, an area known for its harsh terrain and the presence of desert-adapted species such as elephants, lions, black rhinos, and giraffes.

It will consist of ten guest tents—eight twin rooms and two family units—each featuring private plunge pools, air conditioning, and both indoor and outdoor showers.

Designed with sustainability in mind, the structures will use rammed-earth walls and insulated canvas roofs to assist with passive climate control.

Shared amenities will include a lounge and dining area, an outdoor deck with a swimming pool, a spa, and a fire pit.

The entire camp will operate on solar power and include a full water treatment system to reduce environmental impact. Guests will be able to engage in guided wildlife tracking, nature walks, cultural visits to local Himba communities, excursions to the Skeleton Coast, and stargazing.

Developed in collaboration with the Sesfontein Conservancy, Hoanib Elephant Camp is part of Natural Selection’s broader conservation-driven tourism model.

The camp will support several regional conservation initiatives, such as black rhino relocation, giraffe monitoring, and a desert lion early-warning system designed to reduce human-wildlife conflict.

According to Travel Weekly, rates are expected to range between $970 and $1,580 per night, and the camp will be open year-round.

For business owners in the outdoor hospitality industry, the project highlights opportunities in eco-luxury tourism that combine remote, nature-based experiences with conservation and community engagement.

The inclusion of locally driven partnerships and emphasis on sustainable infrastructure may serve as a model for similar ventures seeking to align high-end offerings with environmental responsibility.

Natural Selection’s broader portfolio includes camps and lodges across Botswana, Namibia, and South Africa, and continues to focus on conservation-centric hospitality developments.
