Kenya received significant recognition at the 2025 World Travel Awards (WTA) Africa & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony, held on June 29 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The country earned more than 30 accolades across a range of categories, reaffirming its position as a leader in Africa’s tourism and hospitality sectors. The awards acknowledged achievements in conservation, luxury tourism, air travel, and tour operations.
“Kenya has once again cemented its place as an undisputed leader in tourism and hospitality across Africa at the World Travel Awards,” said Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano on June 30.
“Nairobi proudly claimed the title of Africa’s Leading Business Travel Destination 2025, reaffirming our capital as a powerhouse for business, MICE tourism, and innovation on the continent.”
Several hospitality providers in Kenya were recognized for their performance. Emboo Safari Camp was commended for its sustainability-focused model, while JW Marriott Nairobi and Radisson Blu Hotel Nairobi Upper Hill received awards for service and luxury offerings.
“From the eco-conscious Emboo Safari Camp to the world-class luxury of JW Marriott Nairobi and Radisson Blu Nairobi Upper Hill, Kenyan brands showed the world what Magical Kenya is all about: excellence, innovation, and sustainability,” Miano told People Daily.
Nairobi was named Africa’s Leading Business Travel Destination for 2025, highlighting the capital’s growing status as a center for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism.
The city’s business infrastructure, international connectivity, and continued investment in high-quality accommodations contributed to the recognition.
These achievements come as Kenya prepares for the WTA Grand Final in Bahrain this December.
Miano expressed optimism about the country’s prospects on the global stage, saying, “Kenya stands ready to keep leading the way toward a vibrant, sustainable global travel future. Hongera to all our champions for flying the Magical Kenya flag high!”
For professionals in the outdoor hospitality sector, Kenya’s broad representation at the WTA illustrates the growing emphasis on sustainability and experience-driven tourism.
From eco-camps to urban luxury hotels, the country’s varied offerings demonstrate how integrating environmental responsibility with service quality can elevate market presence and global recognition.
