Anantara Kafue River Tented Camp to Bring High-End Safari Experience to Zambia

Minor Hotels is set to expand its global footprint significantly over the next three years, with plans to introduce more than 285 new properties, adding nearly 47,000 keys to its portfolio.

The expansion will bring the company’s total number of properties to over 850 by 2027, reinforcing its presence in key markets worldwide.

With more than 560 properties currently in operation, the hospitality group has outlined a pipeline that includes over 100 new properties in Asia, 60 in the Middle East and Africa, and 40 in Australia and New Zealand, according to a report by Travel News.

This growth aligns with the company’s strategy of enhancing its luxury and upscale offerings across diverse locations.

Among the notable openings for 2025 is the Anantara Kafue River Tented Camp in Zambia’s Kafue National Park.

Expected to launch in early 2025, the luxury camp will provide an exclusive safari experience with 12 spacious tents, including a 600-square-meter Presidential Villa.

The camp will feature private plunge pools, a restaurant and bar, a spa, a swimming pool, and a traditional African boma.

Guests will have access to activities such as canoeing, fishing, birdwatching, and guided wildlife encounters. The site will be accessible via a three-hour drive from Victoria Falls or Lusaka, with helicopter transfers available from Lusaka or Livingstone.

The camp is a joint venture between Minor Hotels and Agro Safari, a division of a longstanding Zambian company.

This collaboration is designed to integrate the natural landscape with high-end hospitality while ensuring local economic benefits.

“We are really excited to announce this partnership with Agro Safari to develop and launch an exclusive tented camp in Zambia under our luxury Anantara flag,” Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels and group CEO of parent company Minor International, told Travel News when the camp was first announced in 2023.

“This represents a unique opportunity to offer unparalleled experiences to discerning travellers looking to explore outside the more well-known African parks.”

In addition to luxury accommodations, the camp will emphasize community engagement, prioritizing local employment and sourcing supplies from regional businesses.

This aligns with Minor Hotels’ broader commitment to sustainable and community-driven development within its growing portfolio.

Other key openings planned for 2025 include the Tivoli Kopke Porto Gaia Hotel in Portugal, a restored historic wine cellar-turned-hotel and nhow Roma in Italy, which will focus on contemporary design.

Avani+ Barbarons Seychelles Resort, a flagship Indian Ocean destination reopening in the third quarter and NH Collection Maldives Reethi Resort, a revamped luxury resort set to debut in the fourth quarter are also planned.

For business owners in the outdoor hospitality sector, Minor Hotels’ expansion underscores growing demand for premium and experiential accommodations across different markets.

The company’s focus on integrating local partnerships, sustainable tourism, and high-end offerings presents potential collaboration opportunities for suppliers, developers, and investors looking to tap into the evolving luxury travel segment.
