Aber Bay Holiday Park, located near Aberystwyth and part of the Allens Caravans group, is introducing pop-up camping at its seaside site for the first time.
The initiative will run throughout August and marks a strategic move by the family-run business to expand its range of accommodation options while offering more affordable access to its beachside location.
Situated in Clarach Bay, the park’s new offering includes a temporary camping field equipped with essential amenities such as pop-up showers, washing-up stations, and toilet facilities.
Guests camping at the site will also have access to the park’s full range of features, including an indoor heated pool, entertainment programs, a games room, outdoor play area, restaurant, bar, reception, launderette, and shop.
According to Liverpool World, tent pitches will be priced between £25 and £35 per night.
The move complements recent additions to the park, including the introduction of new glamping pods.
Designed with families in mind, these boutique-style units provide sleeping space for up to six people and include a hot tub. The glamping pods are intended to cater to demand for more sustainable and flexible holiday experiences.
James Allen, CEO of Allens Caravans, emphasized the company’s aim to offer a wide variety of accommodation choices.
“With our history of providing holidays for the nation, we have seen many different styles of accommodation, and we know what holidaymakers are looking for when it comes to flexible, modern spaces,” he said.
“We want to give as many options to people and families as possible, including the most cost-effective options, which is why we are offering the chance to camp with us this August.”
Allen also commented on the shifting preferences of holidaymakers. “A new generation of travellers want a more eco-conscious, unique, and Instagrammable stay. Guests want to minimize their carbon footprint while enjoying nature,” he said.
For outdoor hospitality operators, the initiative at Aber Bay may highlight a growing trend toward diversified accommodation models that blend affordability, flexibility, and experience-driven travel.
By offering pop-up camping alongside traditional caravan options and high-end glamping pods, Allens Caravans positions itself to serve a wider demographic while increasing occupancy during peak summer months.
Allens Caravans, established in the 1950s, operates several parks across the UK, including Sunbeach on Cardigan Bay and rural retreats like Abbot’s Salford and Bredon View near the Cotswolds.
