Wilmington KOA Holiday in Wilmington, North Carolina, has added two fenced, dog-friendly RV sites, expanding its Paw Pen accommodations to include private off-leash spaces for both RV campers and cabin guests.
The new Paw Pen RV Sites feature oversized fenced areas, concrete patios with outdoor furniture, Weber grills, fire features and pet waste stations. Both sites are located on back-end RV sites designed to accommodate larger recreational vehicles.
The expansion brings the campground’s total number of Paw Pen accommodations to five, including three existing Paw Pen Deluxe Cabin Sites.
The additions address demand among campers traveling with pets. According to KOA’s 2026 Camping and Outdoor Hospitality Report, 42% of campers who travel with dogs said they would not book a campground that does not allow their dogs to go off-leash.
“So many of our guests consider their dogs part of the family, and we want those dogs to have a good camping experience too,” said Micah Tomaselli, owner of Wilmington KOA Holiday. “Our new Paw Pen Sites let campers relax knowing their pups can play safely off-leash. And now is the best time to visit Wilmington with your dog, because our beaches open back up to four-legged guests this time of year.”
Several beaches and recreational areas near Wilmington also have seasonal policies that allow dogs during the cooler months. Beginning Oct. 1, Wrightsville Beach permits leashed dogs, while Carolina Beach and Kure Beach lift daytime restrictions on dogs. Freeman Park also opens its seasonal off-leash period for dogs.
The campground offers several other lodging options, including RV sites, Deluxe Cabins, Camping Cabins and tent sites. Existing amenities include a saltwater swimming pool, playground, KampK9 dog park, gem mining and seasonal activities.
The property is part of Kampgrounds of America Inc.’s network of more than 500 publicly accessible KOA Journey, Holiday and Resort campgrounds across the United States and Canada.
Wilmington KOA Holiday is located at 7415 Market St. in Wilmington and operates year-round.
