Luxembourg Campsites Record 13% Rise in Overnight Stays Through July 2026

Luxembourg’s tourism sector recorded continued growth through the first seven months of 2026, with campsites among the segments reporting the largest increase in overnight stays.

Data presented by Luxembourg’s Ministry of Tourism at a press conference on Monday, September 28, showed that tourism arrivals increased 3% from January through July 2026 compared with the same period in 2025. Total overnight stays rose 6% year over year.

Campsites recorded a 13% increase in overnight stays during the period, making outdoor accommodation a notable contributor to the country’s tourism growth.

According to Tourism Minister Lex Delles, operators have expanded their offerings to appeal to different types of travelers, including guests seeking nature-based experiences and accommodations beyond traditional tent and caravan stays.

The range of products now includes rooftop tents mounted on vehicles as well as higher-end glamping accommodations. The growth has been attributed in part to favorable weather and increased interest in spending time in natural environments.

The Netherlands remains Luxembourg’s largest source market for tourists, followed by Germany, Belgium, and France. At the same time, the ministry reported increased visitor numbers from the United States, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Denmark, indicating growth across several international markets.

Several of Luxembourg’s established attractions continue to contribute to visitor demand, including the Mullerthal Trail, the Casemates, Vianden Castle, and Parc Merveilleux in Bettembourg.

The ministry is also looking at how tourism businesses and destination organizations can adapt to changes in the way travelers research and plan trips. As the use of artificial intelligence tools for travel planning increases, officials want to work with stakeholders across the tourism sector to improve the quality and accessibility of destination data available to AI systems.

According to RTL Today, Delles said that investing in data quality will help Luxembourg remain a destination of choice for visitors in the coming years.

For campground and glamping operators, the developments highlight the potential importance of maintaining accurate, structured information about accommodations, amenities, locations, activities, and surrounding attractions.

As travelers increasingly use AI-powered trip-planning tools alongside traditional search and booking platforms, operators may need to consider not only how their properties appear on booking channels but also whether reliable information about them is available for digital systems to interpret and present.

With tourism growth continuing into 2026 and camping showing a 13% increase in overnight stays through July, Luxembourg’s outdoor accommodation sector is positioned within a broader shift toward nature-based travel and diversified camping products.

For operators, the combination of expanding international demand, varied accommodation formats, and changing travel-planning behavior could make accurate digital information an increasingly relevant part of marketing and distribution strategies.
