Woodthorpe Leisure Park in Alford, Lincolnshire, has received a 2026 Recognition Of Service Excellence (ROSE) award from VisitEngland, placing the holiday park among 100 accommodation businesses recognized nationally for service standards.
The award is based on genuine online guest reviews and independent, unannounced inspections conducted by VisitEngland assessors. The national tourism board says the ROSE program recognizes establishments that demonstrate consistent customer service, hospitality, and attention to the visitor experience.
Woodthorpe has also retained its five-star holiday park rating for the 2026/27 period. The park additionally holds VisitEngland recognition through the Families Welcome, Walkers Welcome, Cyclists Welcome, and Welcome Pets programs.

The recognition comes as Woodthorpe continues to operate as a mixed accommodation destination across 43 acres of woodland in the Lincolnshire Wolds. Its accommodation portfolio includes glamping pods, cabins, lodges, cottages, static caravans, and touring pitches for motorhomes and caravans.
For outdoor hospitality operators, the park’s combination of accommodation types and visitor amenities provides an example of how a holiday destination can serve different customer segments within one property. Its facilities include an 18-hole golf course, driving range, two fishing lakes, children’s outdoor play areas, and Woody’s Bar and Restaurant.
The park’s location also provides access to Louth, family attractions, and the Lincolnshire coastline, allowing the business to combine on-site activities with nearby tourism offerings.
Woodthorpe Leisure Park is part of British Garden Centres, a family-owned garden-center group founded by brothers Charles and Robert Stubbs. The wider business began with the opening of Woodthorpe Garden Centre in 1990 and now operates 80 garden centers across the UK and employs more than 3,500 people.
For holiday park and campground operators, the VisitEngland recognition also highlights the role of guest feedback and independent assessments in evaluating service performance. Because the ROSE award is not an award businesses can directly enter for, the recognition is based on the customer experience and assessor observations rather than a conventional application process.
The 2026 award and the park’s retained five-star classification provide Woodthorpe with external recognition of its current operating standards as it continues to serve holidaymakers, holiday homeowners, and outdoor travelers.
