The RV Technical Institute (RVTI) conducted a Level 2 Dealer On-Site Training session for RV Masters in LaPlace, Louisiana, providing the repair shop’s service team with hands-on instruction after 11 weeks of online coursework. Trainer Chris Jachim led the final week of training.
The program allows qualifying dealerships to receive instruction at their own locations rather than sending technicians to the Institute’s facility. Dealer On-Site Training is available to dealerships registered with the Institute as a Location Subscriber or Authorized Learning Partner+.
RV Masters’ service team completed the hybrid Level 2 program, which combines an 11-week online component with a final week of hands-on instruction led by an institute trainer.
The training is designed to develop the theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair RV systems and components.
Level 2 training covers propane, electrical, water, appliances, body, generator and chassis systems. The hands-on portion of Dealer On-Site Training can be adjusted based on the materials available at the participating dealership.
“Our Level 2 training with RV Masters further underscores our commitment to equipping dealership professionals with practical, career-defining skills,” Halle Howard, account manager for the RVTI, said in a News and Insights report of RVIA. “Providing technician training on-site translates to elevated technician skills and higher customer satisfaction.”
Howard said the institute plans to expand the training initiative to additional technicians.
“We look forward to empowering more technicians in the future through this training initiative so that, ultimately, RVers can quickly return to their outdoor adventures with peace of mind,” Howard said.
The institute also offers Level 1 training for current and future RV technicians. The program covers the same seven major RV systems and is intended to establish the skills needed to prepare an RV for customer delivery by verifying the operation of its components.
The Dealer On-Site format may also reduce costs for participating dealerships because technicians can remain at the dealership instead of traveling to the Institute’s location in Elkhart, Indiana.
The RV Masters training adds an on-site option to the Institute’s Level 2 program while retaining the 11-week online coursework and concluding with dealership-based practical instruction.
