CAMP Door County Showcases New Mountain Bike Trail as Part of Multi-Phase Expansion Plan

CAMP Door County has opened a new mountain bike trail in Sister Bay, Wisconsin, marking the first phase of a broader trail development plan aimed at expanding outdoor recreation offerings at the campground.

The new trail, called “The Quarry Trail,” officially opened May 15 and is designed for beginner to intermediate riders.

The half-mile loop is located at the campground’s Spruce Trailhead and includes sustainable singletrack, berms, rollers, a bridge, natural terrain features, and scenic views.

According to a press release, John McMahon, operations director at CAMP Door County, said the project supports the campground’s goal of positioning itself as a destination for mountain biking visitors traveling to Door County.

“CAMP Door County is committed to developing our property as a basecamp for mountain biking enthusiasts visiting Door County, and the recent construction of a new trail only reinforces our recognized standing as the premier destination for guests looking for outdoor adventure,” McMahon added.

McMahon said the new trail represents Phase 1 of a three-phase trail development plan completed in partnership with B.O.O. Yaa Trails.

Future phases are expected to include an expanded trail system, a skills park, and a bike cleaning station.

Guests using the mountain bike trails are required to purchase either a $5 daily pass or a $20 annual pass through the campground office.

JP Silva, owner of B.O.O. Yaa Trails, also said the project was designed to accommodate a wide range of riders while maintaining the property’s natural landscape.

“Our goal is to create a trail system where people of all experience levels feel welcome to get outside and explore the excitement of mountain biking,” Silva said.

“The new trail aligns with CAMP Door County’s broader efforts to increase accessible outdoor activities while focusing on a sustainable trail design that complements the natural topography,” Silva added.

CAMP Door County is located outside Sister Bay and operates as a campground and outdoor lodging destination.

The property includes 20 seasonal RV sites, 56 RV sites with full hookups, 20 primitive tent sites, four Scandinavian cottages, and rental RV accommodations.

According to the campground, RV sites include 50/30/20-amp electrical service, water, sewer, and Wi-Fi connections. The property also operates a camp store offering camping supplies and food products.
