RVTI Advances Training Expansion With Pennsylvania School District

The RV Technical Institute (RVTI) is moving to expand its high school training footprint through a planned educational partnership with the California Area School District in Coal Center, Pennsylvania, following a recent meeting involving district officials and an existing partner in Colorado.

Justin Rickett, RVTI director of industry relations, met with representatives from Littleton Public Schools in Littleton, Colorado, and officials from the California Area School District (CASD), which is exploring adoption of RVTI’s Level 1 certification program.

The proposed partnership would integrate RVTI’s Level 1 curriculum into CASD’s high school offerings, introducing students to careers as RV service technicians through hands-on technical training.

The Level 1 certification program covers seven RV systems: propane, electrical, plumbing, appliances, body, generator, and chassis, providing foundational skills aligned with industry needs.

CASD Superintendent Dr. Laura Jacob said the initiative aligns with the district’s focus on hands-on education and career readiness.

“We are a small school district that takes pride in developing unique hands-on learning opportunities for our students. The leaders of our school district—the Board President, Superintendent, and Principal—are avid RVers, and we wanted to build a technician program,” Jacob said in a News and Insights report of RVIA on April 16.

District officials began researching program development options and identified Littleton Public Schools’ existing partnership with RVTI as a model.

“After a Zoom call together, we knew we wanted to see it in action,” Jacob said. “It was so valuable to visit the EPIC Campus and spend time in the classroom to get a feel for how we can develop our program. We are sincerely grateful for their hospitality.”

During the Colorado visit, participants discussed program implementation, student engagement, curriculum structure, certification exams, hands-on training, and funding considerations.

Rickett said the potential partnership reflects broader momentum in introducing technical career pathways at the high school level.

“This visit represents an exciting step forward in expanding RVTI’s outreach and impact,” Rickett said. “The opportunity to welcome a second high school partner in the country speaks to the growing momentum behind introducing students to meaningful career pathways earlier.”

He added that collaboration between CASD and Littleton Public Schools demonstrates how institutions can work together to expand access to career-focused education.

Jacob said the district expects the program to provide students with both technical exposure and industry-recognized credentials.

“We are thrilled to partner with RVTI to bring this hands-on, industry-focused career pathway to our students,” Jacob said. “What we’re most looking forward to is watching students discover a passion for technical work and graduate with more than just a diploma—but an industry-recognized credential that opens doors to meaningful, well-paying careers.”
