Papagayo Campsite in Lanzarote to Reopen for Easter with Upgraded Facilities

The Papagayo Campsite in Lanzarote is set to reopen for the Easter period, operating from March 27 through April 5, the Lanzarote Cabildo has confirmed. The reopening follows a series of improvements completed by the Cabildo’s own staff, aimed at upgrading the site’s infrastructure and visitor experience.

Enhancements at the campsite include new roofing, electrical improvements, and the installation of solar panels. Access control measures have been strengthened, the auxiliary engine has been replaced, and the site has undergone repainting and updated signage.

Cabildo President Oswaldo Betancort emphasized the importance of the reopening during peak periods. “The opening of the campsite enables us to meet high demand during key dates, ensuring an orderly and regulated service in a natural environment of special value,” he said.

Reservations for the campsite will open on March 20 and are available exclusively through the official website, acampadapapagayo.com. The online platform allows visitors to check real-time availability, select a pitch using an interactive map, and complete payment via credit card.

The Papagayo Campsite is currently the only regulated camping ground on Lanzarote and provides 259 pitches, according to GazetteLife. Thirty-two spaces are designated for small tents, while 227 pitches accommodate caravans, motorhomes, campervans, or larger tents.

Facilities at the campsite are designed to meet a variety of visitor needs. These include pitches adapted for people with reduced mobility, designated pet areas, short- and long-term stay options, toilets and washbasins, indoor and outdoor showers, water supply points, drainage connections on each pitch, waste water tanks, night lighting, barbecue areas, 24-hour security, and adapted access to the beach.

For operators and professionals in the outdoor hospitality industry, the reopening highlights ongoing investment in regulated camping infrastructure and the potential for increased visitor traffic during seasonal peaks.

The focus on accessibility, renewable energy, and enhanced safety may also provide insights for private campground operators seeking to update their facilities or improve guest management systems.
