Wild Energy Launches Innovative Virtual Metering Feature for Enhanced Utility Management at Campgrounds

Wild Energy has launched a new feature called Virtual Metering, which allows electricity or water usage from multiple physical meters to be combined into a single virtual meter for billing and reporting. The capability was officially announced in January 2026 and is now available to all Wild Energy customers.

The system is designed to let property managers link two or more meters to one guest, site, or account, producing a single consolidated utility total. This is particularly useful in situations where guests draw power from multiple locations, such as oversized RVs or multi-site rentals.

The feature has already been tested in operational settings by Wild Energy customers Zeman RV Resorts and Cabana Bay RV Resort, where guests sometimes required access to more than one electrical pedestal but needed a single, transparent utility charge.

“Wild Energy is always leading the market with our innovation. Virtual Metering solves a problem that property managers have dealt with for years: how to fairly and accurately account for power when a guest is using multiple hookups,” said Mike Sorensen, CEO of Wild Energy. “Now it’s native to the platform, automated, and fully integrated within our technology platform.”

The functionality supports multiple use cases across Wild Energy’s markets, including RV parks, campgrounds, marinas, manufactured housing communities, municipalities, commercial and residential real estate, and industrial operations.

For operators, Virtual Metering provides the ability to aggregate consumption from multiple revenue-grade meters, assign multiple locations to a single account or reservation, and maintain meter-level transparency for reporting.

For RV and marina operators, the solution offers greater flexibility in site assignments and infrastructure planning. Guests benefit from simplified access to power without confusion or manual adjustments.

Scenarios such as multi-site rentals, overflow or high-demand RV hookups, and temporary installations can now be managed more efficiently. The feature integrates with existing property management systems and requires no software updates for current customers.

Industry professionals may view Virtual Metering as part of a growing trend toward more flexible, data-driven utility management, which could improve operational efficiency and customer experience in RV parks, campgrounds, and other multi-site rental environments.
