Wales has emerged prominently in the latest annual ranking of the UK’s top camping and glamping destinations, with 36 Welsh sites featured in the Campsites.co.uk “150 Outstanding Sites for 2025” list, published in July.
The list highlights locations across the UK based on user reviews and standout amenities, with North Wales accounting for a significant share of the featured Welsh sites.
Among those recognized, Nantcol Waterfalls in North Wales returned to the spotlight after being named Best Campsite in the 2024 Camping and Glamping Award.
The site, known for its riverside access and proximity to waterfalls, offers a mix of camping pitches and glamping accommodations.
A reviewer on Campsites.co.uk wrote, “This site is amazing! Peaceful, beautiful, and the surroundings are simply breathtaking. Facilities are 10/10 and everything has been thought of, and recommend going for the hour riverside walk to see the gorgeous waterfall and river.”
Another user added, “Honestly, we were ready to turn the car around and book a couple of extra nights here! Believe me, when you book this site, you will see why it’s an award-winning campsite. Simply beautiful.”
Afon Nantcol, which flows directly through the campsite, supports recreational activities such as paddling, fishing, and wild swimming. Its location less than 100 meters from a popular waterfall adds to its appeal, especially among nature-focused travelers.
Pods Pwll Coch in Anglesey also made the 2025 list, gaining attention for its 100% recommendation rate among users, according to Nation.Cymru.
The site offers luxury glamping pods equipped with underfloor heating and en-suite bathrooms, alongside standard camping options. Guests can also interact with the site’s resident goats, Jenny, Ted, and Gryff.
Caernarfon was identified as a regional hotspot, with Llanrug featuring three highly rated campsites located just minutes from one another.
In South West Wales, Pembrokeshire earned recognition with Llanungar Caravan and Camping praised for its customer service, and Folly Farm’s expansive 100-acre site noted as a favorite among family travelers.
Further inland, Lakeside Caravan Park in Bannau Brycheiniog, near Llangorse Lake, was described by one reviewer as “idyllic.”
Other standout sites in Mid Wales included Cwmdu Campsite, previously awarded Best Campsite Mid Wales in 2024, and Bryndu Caravan and Camping, noted for having facilities described as “second to none.”
For professionals in the outdoor hospitality sector, Wales’ strong performance in the 2025 rankings highlights a continued trend of consumer interest in natural, well-equipped, and family-friendly experiences.
The recognition of both large and small operations suggests that investments in clean facilities, thoughtful amenities, and consistent service can translate into significant visibility and traveler loyalty.
The prominence of glamping options among the awardees further reflects shifting guest expectations and the potential profitability of diversifying offerings.
