Australia Campgrounds Improved, Built As Demand Surges

A new campground for walk-ins is scheduled to be constructed over the next few weeks within Adelaide Hills. The new campground construction near the South Para Reservoir Reserve is due to the increasing camper demand across South Australia, a report said.

The site is located in Old Kersbrook Forest near Kersbrook. It is expected to accommodate up to 20 guests and includes tent camping and a toilet block. It also has picnic areas and a rainwater tank.

The site will assist the visitors to South Para and Warren Reservoirs, accessible for water and land-based activities like cycling, hiking, kayaking, and fishing.

The site will also provide a thrilling addition to the array of activities offered to those who visit the Williamstown region, allowing them to explore the trails currently in use between Mount Crawford Forest and the Para Wirra Conservation Park.

Bookings throughout South Australia and visitors to national parks and forests have increased significantly after the COVID-19 epidemic.

From January 2021 to the end of August, more than 131,382 people registered to stay in national parks or state reserves, the highest ever recorded during this time. This represents an increase of 66 percent over the same time last year.

Campsite bookings for forest campgrounds have dramatically increased from 12,088 in 2019-2020 to 34,447 by 2020-2021.

The campground that is being built located in Old Kersbrook Forest is one of 27 campgrounds being renovated or built across the state.

The South Australian Government is continuing to create new experiences, upgrades, and facilities throughout the state. This includes top-of-the-line mountain biking, fossil experience, and further multi-day hikes and trails, campgrounds, kayak launches, and car parks.

The most popular destinations for the long weekend of October are Kuitpo Forest, Mount Crawford, Mount Remarkable National Park, Deep Creek Conservation Park, Dhilba Guuranda-Innes National Park, Murray River National Park, and Ikara Flinders Ranges National Park.
