WorldHotels, a global brand within the BWH Hotels portfolio, on April 14 announced the launch of WorldHotels Backdrop, a new collection of upscale glamping retreats and outdoor-focused accommodations in scenic destinations worldwide.
The move expands the company’s offerings into the growing outdoor hospitality segment, as demand rises for travel experiences centered on nature and immersive environments.
The collection includes canvas-tented rooms, riverside cabins and other lodging formats positioned near mountains, coastlines and national parks.
The launch comes as the global glamping market continues to expand, reaching a value of $3.79 billion in 2025 and projected to grow to $7.87 billion by 2033. The increase reflects shifting traveler preferences, particularly among younger demographics, toward experiences that emphasize restoration and connection to place.
According to a press release, Ron Pohl, president of WorldHotels, said the new collection aligns with evolving guest expectations.
“Today’s traveler is seeking more than a getaway; they’re looking for connection and purpose,” Pohl said. “WorldHotels Backdrop brings to life our vision of allowing guests to fully experience remarkable outdoor environments while still enjoying the elevated hospitality that sets WorldHotels apart.”
Initial properties in the Backdrop portfolio include Zion Wildflower Resort in Virgin, Utah, located near Zion National Park and offering safari-style accommodations with access to hiking and guided desert activities.
Asheville River Cabins in Arden, North Carolina, features renovated waterfront cabins near the Blue Ridge Mountains, with access to outdoor recreation such as tubing and mountain biking.
The Lodge at Pico Bonito in La Ceiba, Honduras, is expected to join the collection, providing access to rainforest trails, waterfalls and wildlife near Pico Bonito National Park.
WorldHotels said additional expansion is under consideration, with early discussions involving destinations in Vietnam, Africa and Australia.
Beyond leisure travel, the company is positioning backdrop properties as venues for corporate events and weddings. The sites include indoor and outdoor spaces designed for meetings, workshops and social gatherings, supported by on-site kitchens and presentation areas.
