A unique business opportunity has emerged as Olympic National Forest seeks operators for the Satsop Center, a 15-acre property situated southeast of Wynoochee Lake, 36 miles north of Montesano, Washington according to my clallam county.com.
The site, located on a former logging camp, was closed in January due to safety and maintenance concerns. Following remediation work completed in September, officials are now exploring opportunities for new public uses through a Request for Expressed Interest (RFEI). This process is the first step in fostering partnerships and ideas for the site’s future.
Interested parties are encouraged to attend a site visit on December 3, and a virtual Q&A session with Forest Service staff on December 4. RSVPs for these events are due by November 22, and should be sent to Kathryn McGillvray, Supervisory Forest Recreation Manager, at [email protected].
RFEI submissions are due by 5 p.m. on December 2, and should include the RFEI Submission Form (Appendix C). Submissions can be emailed with the subject line “Satsop Work Center RFEI Submission” to [email protected] or sent in writing to: Olympic National Forest Supervisor’s Office, 1835 Black Lake Blvd SW Olympia, WA 98512.
Additional information about the opportunity, Forest Service policies, and submission requirements is available on the Olympic National Forest website.
This redevelopment offers a unique chance to restore and expand outdoor recreation opportunities, benefiting the local community and enhancing public access to a historic and scenic area.
