Rockingham County Board of Supervisors in Virginia approved a special-use permit for a new private campground in the Bergton area, according to a Daily News-Record report. The board’s decision culminated in a 4-1 vote, with District 2 Supervisor Sallie Wolfe-Garrison dissenting.

Applicant Steven Williamson, as quoted in the Daily News-Record report, shared plans to inaugurate the campground in March, introducing 50 sites, comprising 40 with electric and water hookups and 10 primitive tent sites. The campground will also enforce quiet hours, starting at 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.
The initial operational phase will see two to three employees, with volunteer support, ensuring the smooth running of the site.
