The Dyrt, an app for camping information, unveiled the top nine dog-friendly campgrounds in the U.S. for 2024. According to The Dyrt’s 2024 camping report, more than half of campers (53.7%) brought their dogs along in 2023.

The report also highlighted that 46.8% of campers prefer RVing, a fit for traveling with pets due to the comforts of home on the road. Five of the nine top dog-friendly campgrounds cater primarily to RVs.

According to a press release, Sarah Smith, founder of The Dyrt, emphasized the mutual enjoyment of camping for both people and their pets.

People love camping for a lot of the same reasons that dogs love camping. When we take Brandy (aka The Dyrt Dog) camping with us, I know she’s having as much fun as we are,” she said.

Using AI to sift through The Dyrt’s millions of user-generated reviews, photos, and tips of U.S. campgrounds, the most dog-welcoming campgrounds were identified. These campgrounds are ranked based on reviews, photos, accommodations, and amenities offered.

The top campgrounds include 4 Paws Kingdom Campground & Dog Retreat in North Carolina, Wagonhammer RV Park & Campground in Idaho, and Lake George RV Park in New York. Alum Creek State Park in Ohio and Tahoe Valley Campground in California are also ideal for travelers with dogs.

Other campgrounds include the Campground at James Island County Park in South Carolina, Chatfield State Park in Colorado, First Landing State Park in Virginia, and Santa Fe Skies RV Park in New Mexico.

The Dyrt camper Gabi B. praised 4 Paws Kingdom, stating, “We’ve never been to a park like this one and highly recommend it if you can get in. We’ll be back for sure!”

4 Paws Kingdom Campground & Dog Retreat in Rutherfordton, North Carolina showcases dedication to “pampering pooches,” with a strict policy of no humans under the age of 18 to ensure “optimal relaxation and minimal fur tugging.” Situated on nine acres, some campsites even feature fenced-in yards.

The Dyrt continues to receive over 30 million visits annually. Its features, including The Dyrt PRO, offer advanced maps, campground reservations, and exclusive discounts, further enhancing the camping experience for users.
