The Dyrt has released a comprehensive Pacific Coast Highway road trip and camping guide, outlining key route details, campground recommendations and planning considerations for travelers along the West Coast corridor.
The guide covers the approximately 1,650-mile stretch from Port Angeles, Washington, to San Diego, providing an overview of the highway’s history, notable features and suggested travel timelines.
It recommends a two- to three-week itinerary to allow for exploration across multiple destinations along the route.
According to a press release, Kevin Long, CEO of The Dyrt, said the guide highlights the range of landscapes accessible along the highway.
“There are so many iconic road trips and amazing camping properties all over the country, but the sheer beauty of traveling along the PCH and camping under the stars near the Pacific Ocean may be unmatched anywhere in the world,” Long said.
“We recommend making this a two- to three-week trip, if possible, between June and September. Experiencing the rainforests, ocean cliffs, redwood groves, beaches and coastal towns in the summer months is as good as it gets,” Long added.
According to the company, the route includes a mix of natural and urban environments, passing through coastal communities, fishing villages and major metropolitan areas such as San Francisco and Los Angeles.
The guide also notes common activities associated with the route, including surfing, visiting lighthouses and stopping at scenic viewpoints.
A central feature of the release is The Dyrt’s list of the 10 best places to camp along the Pacific Coast Highway. The list includes Kalaloch Campground and Cape Disappointment State Park in Washington, River Bend County Park and Nehalem Bay State Park in Oregon, and Kirk Creek Campground and El Capitán State Beach in California. Each site is positioned near the main highway to support continuous travel along the route.
The guide further segments the trip into smaller sections with day-by-day suggestions, campground details and activity recommendations.
It also includes planning guidance on fuel availability, seasonal conditions, budgeting and connectivity considerations while traveling.
The Dyrt said the guide is designed to serve as a planning resource for campers and road trippers seeking structured itineraries and campground access along one of the most traveled coastal routes in the United States.
