Northgate Resorts has been granted a permit valued at $1 million to build a “Bath House” at 5701 N. 19th Street.
According to a report, the project will place 300 cabins and RV sites between Lakeshore Drive and Bosque River. It is the second Camp Fimfo Northgate has built in Texas. The cost of the project has been assessed at $25 million in previous estimates. The site will also include a grocery shop, waterpark, minigolf course, and bike rentals.
In late October, Waco City Council approved grants of up to $1.25 million in exchange for $14 million in investment in the project. This included requirements for a 7,000-square-foot pool with at least two water slides, a restaurant, 50 golf carts for rent, and an accessible playground.
It is unclear why there is a discrepancy between the $25 million estimate and the $14 million in the city deal. The public money would be paid out over seven years in increments linked to the campground’s occupancy and sales taxes.
The campground is scheduled to open in the spring.
