A new RV park has taken a significant step forward after the Horry County Planning Commission approved the project on September 3. The proposed development, located on a 34.47-acre tract off Highway 905 near the intersection of Highway 22, is expected to feature approximately 200 campsites and 35 cabins upon completion.
This initial approval moves the project closer to realizing its goal of becoming a destination park. The development’s spokesperson indicated that the park will offer a range of amenities to enhance visitors’ experience. Positioned near the Waccamaw River, the park’s proximity to major highways is anticipated to draw significant traffic from travelers.
“We think the proximity to Highway 22 will make it a very popular destination,” the spokesperson stated, as reported by My Horry News. The new RV park project on Highway 905 is planned to be completed by early 2026.
The landowners submitted an application to rezone the property from its current designation to DP-Destination Park. This zoning change allows for the construction of the RV park.
Sun Outdoors Myrtle Beach, formerly known as Carolina Pines, is located on Highway 90 near the intersection of Highway 22, about five miles from the proposed new RV park. This resort is a destination in the region, offering a variety of amenities and recreational activities.
The RV park’s approach highlights the importance of having various amenities and understanding local regulations, such as zoning. Campground operators and RV park owners can safeguard the project from legal challenges by ensuring the development complies with zoning laws.
In addition, by offering amenities that meet campers’ expectations, owners can create a destination that attracts more visitors and fosters repeat business.
