Dorchester County Parks and Recreation has announced a diverse schedule of upcoming events designed to engage children, families, and outdoor adventurers.
According to an article by The Summerville Journal Scene, from educational programs to adventure races and community gatherings, the county’s parks will host a variety of activities in the coming months.
Ashley River Park will feature youth-oriented programs, including a Nocturnal Wildlife exploration on February 10, Plant Biology on February 20, and a Reptiles and Amphibians session on February 25.
Families can participate in creative activities at the Hearts & Crafts Valentine’s event on February 14 and enjoy hands-on STEM activities at a drop-in event on March 3.
Outdoor adventure seekers can look forward to the Ashley River Adventure Race on March 1, which includes a 5K run followed by a seven-mile kayak or paddleboard race, ending with an after-party featuring live music and food.
The Lowcountry Stargazers will host a guided Stargazing in the Park event on March 8, while Family Flicks in the Park, an outdoor movie night, will take place on March 19.
Spring programming highlights include the Spring Break Exploration Series from March 24 to 28, covering topics such as insects, camouflage, ornithology, and a Birds of Prey demonstration on March 26.
Yoga enthusiasts can take part in Full Moon Yoga sessions starting March 14, as well as Happy Hour Yoga classes on select Fridays. Additional community events include the Tales & Ales Social for dog lovers, Sensory and Glow Egg Hunts, and Family BINGO Nights.
