The RV Industry Association (RVIA) has reported a significant rise in total RV shipments for August 2024, with 29,105 units shipped. This marks a 3.7% increase compared to August 2023, where 28,071 units were shipped.
Craig Kirby, president & CEO of the RVIA, noted that manufacturers and suppliers are actively incorporating new technologies and features to attract modern RV buyers.
“RV manufacturers and suppliers continue to build RVs and components with new technology and features to appeal to today’s RV buyers. With RVs available at nearly every price point, RVing remains one of the most affordable ways for people and families to travel and make lifelong memories,” Kirby explained in a News & Insights report of RVIA.
Towable RVs, which include conventional travel trailers, saw notable growth in August, rising 9.6% compared to the same month last year. A total of 26,245 units were shipped. However, motorhome shipments did not fare as well, decreasing by 30.8% compared to August 2023, with only 2,860 units shipped.
Year-to-date figures indicate an optimistic picture for the industry. Through August 2024, total RV shipments have reached 231,817 units, representing an 8.6% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
Despite the overall positive trends, not all RV segments saw growth. Park Model RVs experienced a sharp decline in August 2024, with shipments down by 21.3% compared to the same month last year. Only 299 units were shipped in this category.
