Outdoor Recreation Roundtable Expands Network with 6 New Members and Partner

The Outdoor Recreation Roundtable (ORR) announced the addition of six new members and a new partner, marking an important milestone in its mission to promote and support the outdoor recreation industry.

The new members include trade associations, state offices, and nonprofit organizations, while the new partner represents a shift toward expanding collaborative opportunities within the industry.

The new members joining ORR are the American Bus Association, Maryland Office of Outdoor Recreation, National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, Rollick,  Paddlesports Trade Coalition, Travel Nevada, and the Water Sports Industry Association

According to a press release, Jessica Wahl Turner, president of ORR, emphasized the significance of the expanded network. “ORR members and partners make up a powerful network of trade associations, businesses, nonprofits, and state entities.

Together, we are the leading influencer for the recreation sector and recreation activities in America,” she said. “When ORR speaks, so does the $1.2 trillion recreation economy.”

The American Bus Association, a trade association representing motorcoach and group travel industries, expressed enthusiasm about joining ORR. President and CEO Fred Ferguson highlighted the association’s role in connecting people to outdoor destinations while promoting sustainable tourism.

“By expanding motorcoach and group travel partnerships, we not only enhance access to outdoor experiences but also support sustainable tourism through reduced car trips, efficient transportation, and better visitor dispersion during peak times,” Ferguson said.

The Maryland Office of Outdoor Recreation also sees ORR membership as an opportunity to strengthen its mission. The office focuses on creating inclusive outdoor recreation opportunities and supporting the state’s outdoor economy.

Sandi Olek, director of the Maryland Office of Outdoor Recreation, noted that ORR has already been a valuable partner, adding, “Becoming a member will allow us to connect with national experts and resources, further strengthening Maryland’s outdoor recreation industry and benefiting communities.”
