The Outdoor Recreation Roundtable (ORR) has announced the appointment of Cassandra L. Elrod as its new Program and Administrative Director. Elrod, who joins ORR from Outside Interactive, Inc., where she served as commercial counsel, brings a background in the outdoor recreation industry, legal expertise, and a commitment to sustainability and outdoor recreation policy.
In her new role, Elrod will oversee ORR’s program areas, including operations, communications, policy, programs, and events. She will coordinate efforts with ORR members and industry stakeholders to advocate for policies that enhance outdoor recreation opportunities nationwide.
According to a press release, Jessica Wahl Turner, president of ORR, expressed enthusiasm for Elrod’s addition to the team, highlighting her skills and passion for the outdoors. “We are incredibly excited to welcome Cassandra to the Outdoor Recreation Roundtable. Her unique blend of legal expertise, project management skills, and passion for the outdoors will be invaluable as we continue to advocate for policies that enhance outdoor recreation opportunities across the nation,” Turner said.
During her time at outside interactive, Elrod played a pivotal role in the successful launch of the inaugural outside festival in June 2024, providing legal risk analysis and managing commercial agreements across various business streams. Her experience also includes managing the intellectual property portfolio for over 10 brands.
Elrod expressed her excitement about joining ORR, particularly at a time when the industry is experiencing significant growth and transformation. She emphasized the importance of promoting and protecting outdoor recreation while also prioritizing sustainability and the long-term health of natural resources.
“I look forward to leveraging my background in legal and policy work to advance ORR’s mission of connecting all Americans to the great outdoors, while also prioritizing sustainability and the long-term health of our natural resources,” she stated.
Elrod holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Indiana University Maurer School of Law and is currently pursuing a Masters in the Outdoor Recreation Economy from the University of Colorado Boulder.
