Floating Glamping Resort Coming to Ohio

SolStay, a renowned group known for their unique glamping experiences, is set to establish a one-of-a-kind floating tiny houseboat village in Sandusky, Ohio, this May.

Located on Castaway Bay and Lake Erie, this innovative resort will offer visitors a truly exceptional getaway, combining the comfort of a hotel with the thrill of camping.

Owner Joseph Lisa, who has previously constructed geodomes, yurts, and A-frame cottages in various locations across the United States, including Joshua Tree National Park in California, is excited to introduce something new to the northern Ohio area.

“We’ve been doing glamping stuff for the last four or five years now,” said Lisa. “There’s not really anything different around here… We wanted to add a unique twist to hotel rooms in Sandusky.”

The floating houseboat village will be the latest addition to SolStay’s line of glamping sites, offering visitors a chance to experience an unforgettable night on the water.

Described by Lisa as “little getaways,” the village will provide a community-like atmosphere for couples and friends seeking adventure without completely roughing it.

“We’re kind of creating this little tiny house oasis,” Lisa explained. “We like to create glamping sites and stuff, and this is our unique spin on a glamping project by making it a floating houseboat village.”

One of this innovative resort’s key highlights is the modern amenities available to guests.

Unlike traditional camping sites, the houseboats will feature fully-working showers and even a rooftop hot tub, providing a level of comfort and luxury unparalleled in the camping world.

“You’ve got a roof over your head, you’ve got an actual bed there,” said Lisa. Versus, you know, setting up your own tent and throwing down a sleeping bag and just kind of camping and roughing it.

Furthermore, SolStay has plans for continuous expansion and improvement of the village even after its initial opening. Lisa stated, “It’s going to be a thing that just continues to grow… We’re going to really try to make it a cool place that keeps having more and more stuff to do at it.” The group aims to add more amenities and events, such as a floating beach on one of Sandusky’s piers, ensuring that there will always be something new and exciting for visitors to enjoy.

Other glamping operators can draw inspiration from SolStay’s innovative approach to glamping. By offering unique and luxurious experiences, they can attract more visitors and differentiate themselves from traditional camping options. The floating tiny houseboat village in Sandusky, Ohio, is a prime example of how creative and forward-thinking ideas can elevate the camping experience to new heights.

SolStay’s floating houseboat village is already generating buzz in the Sandusky area, and the opening weekend on May 13 is highly anticipated. The event will feature beer courtesy of Sandusky’s Saucy Brew Works, along with multiple food trucks and live music, promising a memorable and exciting experience for all who attend.

SolStay’s upcoming floating tiny houseboat village in Sandusky, Ohio, is set to revolutionize the glamping industry by offering visitors a unique and luxurious experience.

With modern amenities, continuous expansion plans, and a community-like atmosphere, this innovative resort will surely become a sought-after destination for couples, friends, and adventure-seekers.
