To enhance the outdoor recreation experience, the North Dakota Parks & Recreation Department partnered with Tyler Technologies to implement digital services for park visitors. This collaboration aims to streamline reservations and improve customer service through Tyler’s cloud-based software, powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS).
The new system provides North Dakota’s state park visitors with an online platform for planning outdoor activities throughout the year. Park enthusiasts can now purchase gift cards, daily and annual permits, and book various overnight accommodations, including campsites, cabins, and yurts, all from their devices.
“This collaboration with Tyler allows us to offer a modernized park experience for our over one million yearly park visitors,” Cody Schulz, North Dakota Parks & Recreation director said. “It marks a significant step in the visitor experience, bringing greater convenience in the reservation process and more awareness of our state parks amenities.”
According to a press release, the state park system plans to expand its online services later this summer. Visitors will soon be able to reserve rental equipment and book boat rentals, including kayaks, pontoons, and fishing boats, further enhancing the accessibility of outdoor recreational activities.
“Our technology is proven to help our state park clients more easily offer camping reservations, efficiently process payments, and enhance their visitors’ experience,” Sascha Ohler, senior vice president, outdoor recreation at Tyler, said. “In addition, this software will enable park officials to deliver helpful information and educate visitors through enhanced access to data and insights.”
Tyler and the North Dakota Parks & Recreation Department also partnered with OuterSpatial to enhance guest experiences with the mobile app. This free app provides users with access to more than 2,200 miles of statewide trails, hiking challenges, detailed information on special events, an interactive social platform, and points of interest within North Dakota’s state parks.
