Outdoor Adventure Retreats Charts New Territory with Cotton Patch Landing Acquisition, Amplifying Its Reach in Nature-Driven Hospitality

Outdoor Adventure Retreats (OAR) has officially expanded its portfolio by acquiring Cotton Patch Landing, a prized addition located in the picturesque Inner Banks of North Carolina, last April 1.

This strategic move enhances OAR’s presence in the outdoor hospitality industry and aligns with its mission to connect people with nature and provide exceptional recreational experiences.

On-site Amenities & Accommodation

Cotton Patch Landing, now under the OAR umbrella, boasts a wealth of amenities including full hook-up RV sites, cozy cabin rentals, and a direct access to the Pamlico River. It’s renowned for its boat ramps, wet slips, and ample fishing opportunities that promise unforgettable experiences for guests of all ages.

In a press release, Andrew Garcia, co-founder and CEO of OAR, expressed his joy in welcoming “Cotton Patch Landing into the OAR family.”

“This expansion aligns perfectly with our mission to provide unparalleled access to outdoor recreation through ‘natural amenities’ while fostering a sense of community and connection with nature,” he said.

The acquisition is not just a growth strategy but a commitment to enhancing the guest experience. Plans are in place to upgrade the infrastructure significantly. High-speed Wi-Fi, online booking capabilities, and new communal fire rings are part of the initial enhancements designed to make stays more comfortable and enjoyable.

“What we can do though is make the campground and the other not-so-natural amenities even better and improve everyone’s stay as they come to enjoy the natural amenities that we provide access to,” said Ben Cohen, co-founder and COO of OAR, in an interview with Modern Campground.

Accessibility to Nature & Outdoor Activities

Cotton Patch Landing offers a variety of activities that cater to all types of outdoor enthusiasts. From boating and fishing to bird watching and kayaking, its strategic location serves as a gateway to explore the diverse flora and fauna of the Inner Banks.

Garcia and Cohen said that the serene waterfront setting on Blount’s Creek and lush natural surroundings provide a perfect backdrop for adventurers and families alike to create lasting memories.

OAR is deeply committed to sustainability and environmental stewardship. Efforts to integrate eco-friendly practices include using natural soaps and engaging in local initiatives to preserve the surrounding habitats.

“We want to contribute, we want to give back. We want to help places get better, get cleaner, and get greener,” said Garcia in an interview with Modern Campground, highlighting the company’s dedication to ecological conservation.

Community Partnerships & Economic Growth

The community and economic impacts of this acquisition are also significant. Cohen said that they are already in the process of coordinating with local businesses like food trucks to form partnerships in helping each other grow. Garcia added that they are also looking for businesses already in the outdoor recreation industry and even people with experience in it.

“So whether it be nature-oriented tour guides or fishing charter captains, we look to partner with folks that are already there immediately because we know we’re going to be bringing new visitors to the town, and we’d like to kind of share that wealth and bring the local workforce into the mix. Right. And kind of make it all go around,” said Garcia.

Culture of Growth

Looking forward, OAR has robust plans for further expansion. Cohen said that the acquisition of Cotton Patch Landing is only the beginning of their targeted growth in undiscovered areas. This strategy includes exploring potential new markets within the Southeast and enhancing the company’s portfolio of outdoor hospitality destinations.

In terms of corporate philosophy and staff integration, OAR places a strong emphasis on training and maintaining a consistent quality of service across all locations. Promoting internally is a key strategy, ensuring that staff members are well-aligned with the company’s values and guest service standards.

As Cotton Patch Landing joins the expansive portfolio of OAR, it stands as a cornerstone of the company’s mission to deliver premier outdoor experiences while fostering an enduring connection with the natural world.
