New Campground Ordinance in Cameron Offers Opportunity for Prospective Developers

Campground and RV park owners have reason to be excited about the latest news from the Town of Cameron in North Carolina, as the council recently adopted a new campground ordinance that offers new opportunities for prospective developers.

The ordinance was created in response to increased interest from residents who wish to start campgrounds in the area, according to a report by The Pilot.

Wendy Butner, the town clerk, revealed that the town had been approached twice in the past two months by locals interested in starting their own campgrounds. The ordinance, which was based on Moore County’s campground regulations, allows for the development of tent, cabin, and RV sites that are suitable for “transient dwelling purposes.

Under the new ordinance, each campground must be located on a property of at least 20 acres with a maximum density of 24 sites per acre. Other key details from the ordinance include requirements for parking spaces at each site, drinking water, bathhouses, and dumping stations. The campgrounds are intended for short visits, and no site can be rented for more than 30 continuous days.

Butner notes that the interest in developing campsites is likely due to the trend of people working remotely and having the option to travel with their families.

She also mentioned that there is one farmer located just outside the town’s jurisdiction who is interested in creating a campground to diversify his income and help preserve the land. He does not want the farmland to turn into a subdivision.

The adoption of this new ordinance is a significant development for those interested in starting their own campgrounds.

With the potential for increased revenue from camping and RV enthusiasts, campground and RV park owners may consider expanding their offerings or opening new locations. Prospective developers can take advantage of the new regulations and work with the town to create a campground that meets the ordinance’s requirements.

Overall, the new ordinance provides a unique opportunity for residents and business owners alike to capitalize on the growing interest in camping and RV travel.

As people continue to seek out safe and enjoyable ways to travel, the demand for campgrounds and RV parks is expected to rise, making this the perfect time to invest in this growing market.
