Nomadic Resorts, a glamping design and project development company, will go head-to-head with various design and architecture studios as its Playa Viva treehouses have been nominated for the People’s Choice Award at the Global Awards for Hospitality Experience and Design (AHEAD Global).
“This is a bit of a David and Goliath scenario,” Founder and CEO Louis Thompson wrote in a LinkedIn post, inviting supporters to vote for the company’s project.
The Playa Viva treehouses are one-of-a-kind bamboo structures built for a client in Mexico. The treehouses are natural buildings that offer two bedrooms and endless spectacular views for guests.
Not only are the eco-structures aesthetically pleasing, but they are also sturdy, with each column injected with mortar. On its own, bamboo can withstand strong winds and tension.
Last month, the project was also longlisted for the Créateurs Design Awards 2023 as one of the best examples of hospitality architecture in the world.
This month, Nomadic Resorts is vying for the People’s Choice Award at AHEAD Global, and the company’s leader is encouraging people to vote for the project.
“[I]f you want to support a loveable underdog, please take 5 seconds to vote for a truly sustainable, radically innovative hotel project Playa Viva treehouses,” Thompson wrote.
According to AHEAD Global’s website, voting for the People’s Choice Award will end on January 12 at 12 PM GMT, while winners of the awards will be announced via digital broadcast the following week on January 18 at 1 PM GMT.
