Madison Buffalo Jump State Park will hold its annual Kite Festival on Sept. 5 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring Native American art vendors, flint knapping demonstrations, a drum circle, and a presentation on bison.
The festival will include activities led by community partners: a food truck by Vintage Nana’s Indian Tacos, a drum circle by Many Hands Light Work, and a bison presentation by Billy Maxwell.
The park will sell kite kits for visitors who want to build and fly their own on site, though guests are welcome to bring kites from home, according to an article by The Outdoor Wire.
Traditional Native American games will also be available during the event.
The park is located about 13 miles southeast of Three Forks along Buffalo Jump Road and overlooks the valley surrounding the lower Madison River.
It features a high limestone cliff historically used by Native Americans to stampede bison herds for food, clothing, shelter, and provisions.
