Frank Russell Campground Closure to Extend Until 2023 Camping Season

Frank Russell Campground‘s (Missouri) closure this 2022 camping season will be extended until the 2023 camping season due to ongoing upgrades within the campground.

According to a report, the closure will be extended to allow 36 expanded concrete camping parking pads and improve living spaces from gravel to concrete.

As per its website, Frank Russell Campground provides campers with easy access to the lake, river, and surrounding attractions.

The campground also features an amphitheater with weekly events in the summer.

The Equestrian Campground (campsites 61-67), Frank Russell Pond, Joanna Trail Access, and Frank Russell Archery Park will remain in operation.

Access to Joanna, Clear View, and Flint Ridge Frank Russell campground loops will not be allowed because the area will be an ongoing construction site.

Due to the construction of full-service campsites within the designated recreation area, the dump station will also be unavailable.

Army Corps of Engineers officials apologize for any inconvenience this could cause. Visitors are encouraged to make reservations up to six months before their stay at the Indian Creek Campground or Ray Behrens Campground at Mark Twain Lake until construction is completed.

Reservations can be made online at Recreation.gov or by contacting 1-877-444-6777.
