Winnebago To Open New ATG Facility For Research And Development

Winnebago Industries, one of the country’s popular RV manufacturers, has announced it will soon open a new Advanced Technology Innovation Center to prioritize next-generation technologies for outdoor recreation.

Set to be established in the Twin Cities in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the new facility will focus on storing and developing new technology applications across various technical and product-feature categories, including alternative energy management and autonomy, according to a report by Camping Trade World.

Winnebago said the facility would be well-equipped with cutting-edge technology and built to a size that will meet the needs of its outdoor product portfolio.

“Innovation is a cornerstone for Winnebago Industries. Our ability to excel in the market and further our industry leadership will hinge on our ability to advance the consumer experience through technology. That is why we formed the Advanced Technology Group in 2019 and why we are now making a physical investment in and deepening that commitment to innovation by establishing the Advanced Technology Innovation Center,” said Winnebago President and CEO Michael Happe.

The company’s Advanced Technology Group (ATG) focuses on improving its ability to identify, evaluate, and launch products and services that can impact the industry within each of its brands across four fundamental technological areas, such as alternative energy management, material sourcing, autonomy, and data & connectivity.

“Our category-leading brands have always operated with a keen focus on bringing innovation to their product lines. The Advanced Technology Innovation Center will allow Winnebago Industries to partner with the business units to augment those efforts across multiple technological timelines to meet short- and long-term strategies and goals. We are committing to combining Winnebago Industries’ growing bench of research and development talent, new technology applications, and a growing ecosystem of technology partners under one roof,” said Shailendra Singh, vice president of Winnebago’s advanced technology.

In the next five years, the ATG will focus on designing a new generation of products for RVs and marine vehicles. Its plans can further change in terms of customer experience, a golden thread of the company.
