Movies And Camping At Michigan Park

Flat Rock Our Hometown has teamed up with the Flat Rock Recreation Department to present Flat Rock’s second Movie in the Park. This time, there is an additional bonus: camping, a report said.

According to the report, at dusk on Aug. 18, Disney’s Aladdin will be shown in Huroc Park. Hot dogs, cotton candy, and a Kona Ice Truck will be available on-site with shaved ice.

There will also be a campout at the park in conjunction with the film. The Recreation Department will be hosting some games for children at the campsites. Campers are encouraged to set up along the perimeter at 6:30 p.m.

In the report, Heather Beitler, the director of programming in the city’s Parks and Recreation Department said Flat Rock Our Hometown created two Movie in the Park events as a way for the community to meet a need that existed when Beitler was out of work.

She stated that her goal as director of programming was to create a stronger sense and community through events and experiences. This is especially important in this year’s unexpected x-factor, and she also supports and encourages local businesses to patronize.

Although camping at Huroc Park was a common practice in the past it hasn’t been repeated since. Beitler jokes that it was “a hundred years back,” or long enough ago that people she spoke to don’t recall or fear saying how far ago because it would be embarrassing.

“ I jumped at the chance to partner with FROH, and was delighted to resurrect camping portions of the movie event,” she stated in the report.

Camping was only allowed for a few nights during summer. In the past, there were approximately 30 tents.

According to the report, there is no registration or charge for the film or camping. Only one condition is that the tents must be up and taken down by 8 p.m. Wednesday.

The Flat Rock Police Department will keep the restrooms open and have bicycle police who will patrol the area all night for campers‘ safety. The movie begins at 9 p.m, the report added.

Did you know that in addition to the movie screening, camping, and fun activities, there will also be a cozy bonfire at Huroc Park? It will be a great opportunity for families to gather around and make some delicious campfire treats while enjoying the movie under the stars. Plus, for those who want to make it a full weekend experience, there are nearby scenic hiking trails and tranquil fishing spots to explore during the day! Sounds like a perfect family outing!
