As the fall season approaches, the OC RV & Van Lifestyle Show at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center in Ocean City, Maryland, is poised for significant expansion.
Scheduled from October 31 to November 3, the show benefits from recent legislative changes that permit out-of-state RV dealers to participate, broadening the scope and diversity of products on display.
The catalyst for this expansion is the enactment of Bill SB-60, a legislative change allowing RV dealers from outside Maryland to exhibit their vehicles and products at state shows for the first time in many years. This move is expected to attract a larger audience by showcasing a wider array of RV models and accessories.
Following the passage of SB-60, Maryland further supported its RV industry with Bill HB-840, which allows local dealers to participate in up to three state shows annually—increased from the previous limit of two. This adjustment aims to enhance sales opportunities and market presence for Maryland’s RV dealers, according to a press release.
Rich Hutchins, the organizer of the OC RV & Van Lifestyle Show, highlighted the positive impact of these legislative efforts.
“These changes not only increase the variety and quality of our exhibition but also promise substantial economic benefits to our local economy,” Hutchins said.
His comments reflect a broader industry perspective that new legislation will drive economic growth by increasing attendance and sales at RV shows.
Ocean City is an ideal location for such an expansive RV event, attracting over eight million visitors annually with its scenic beaches and robust amenities. This locale not only offers a picturesque backdrop for the show but also provides ample facilities to accommodate the expected surge in exhibitors and attendees.
This year’s show will feature a variety of interactive experiences, including seminars on RV maintenance and travel planning, as well as opportunities to test the latest e-bikes and golf carts. Attendees can also participate in boat trials, adding a unique hands-on component to the event.
Family-oriented activities will be abundant, with scheduled BMX and skateboarding competitions, beach yoga sessions, tiki boat cruises, and a Halloween costume contest, making the event appealing to visitors of all ages.
The show will also include a Superstore Showcase, where new products will be introduced, and industry experts from leading companies like Keller Maring & RV and Lippert will share their insights. This segment aims to educate RV enthusiasts on the latest trends and technological advancements in the industry.
Reflecting on feedback from last year’s event, Hutchins emphasized the importance of diversity in the RVs and related products offered. “Thanks to the legislative updates, we’re able to bring a broader array of RVs to the show, enhancing the overall attendee experience,” Hutchins said.
As the OC RV & Van Lifestyle Show continues to grow, it sets a new standard for what RV shows can offer.
With legislative support and a focus on expanding dealer and product diversity, the event is set to offer a richer experience for RV enthusiasts and a boost to the local economy, affirming Maryland’s commitment to nurturing its RV industry and supporting community engagement through enhanced recreational opportunities.
