Kampgrounds of America (KOA) has added the Milford Lake KOA Holiday in Kansas to its network of campgrounds following a recent ownership transition and infrastructure investment at the lakeside property.
The campground, located along Milford Lake, is undergoing upgrades aimed at improving guest services while maintaining a long-established customer base that includes campers who have returned annually for more than 35 years, according to KOA.
Bill Glennon, manager of the Milford Lake KOA Holiday, said the new ownership group acquired the campground in 2025 after identifying an opportunity to preserve the property’s history while improving operations and amenities.
“KOA’s reputation for quality and consistency aligned perfectly with our vision for this property,” Glennon said. “We acquired the campground last year because we saw an opportunity to honor its legacy while elevating the experience for both returning campers and new families making lakeside memories for the first time.”
Since the acquisition, ownership has added cable television and Wi-Fi service to every campsite as part of broader infrastructure improvements. The campground offers lake-view campsites, swimming access, direct boat access and a launch dock designed to support boating, fishing and other water recreation activities.
The property is located less than 20 miles from Fort Riley and near additional regional attractions, which KOA said adds to its appeal for travelers visiting the area.
Ownership plans also include the addition of Deluxe Patio RV sites, cabins and premium tent sites, along with new communal gathering areas intended to support family-oriented camping traditions at the property.
KOA said campgrounds continue to generate economic activity for local communities. According to the company’s annual Camping and Outdoor Hospitality Report, campers contributed $66 billion to local economies in 2025, while average camper spending exceeded $200 per day.
The report also found that 33% of campers expressed interest in visiting small towns and 38% said they were attracted to historic sites.
The Milford Lake KOA Holiday is part of KOA’s Holiday brand, which focuses on campgrounds designed for extended stays and recreational travel. The broader KOA network includes more than 500 campgrounds across the United States and Canada, including KOA Journey and KOA Resort properties.
Located at 302 Whiting St. in Milford, the campground is scheduled to operate from April 1 through Oct. 31.
