Jayco Family of Companies has announced that its specialized training for RV technicians has been approved by the RV Technical Institute (RVTI) to qualify for Level 3 Certification. This development applies to training programs covering the Jayco, Entegra Coach, Highland Ridge RV, and Starcraft RV brands.
The decision represents a significant step in enhancing technical skills within the recreational vehicle (RV) industry, offering technicians advanced diagnostics and repair capabilities specific to Jayco products.
The Level 3 Certification is designed for RV technicians seeking to expand their expertise in specialized components. It encompasses advanced skills in diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs, targeting specific systems integral to the functionality of recreational vehicles.
The program also features five distinct areas of specialization: electrical, chassis, electronics, appliance, and slideout. These modules are structured to provide hands-on training, preparing technicians for the complexities they may encounter in the field.
To qualify for the Level 3 Certification, technicians must first pass both Level 1 and Level 2 written and practical exams. The certification process ensures that technicians possess a foundational understanding before advancing to specialized training.
Furthermore, the program shows that technicians complete the required hours of approved training within five years for each specialty category.
Certification also remains valid for five years, during which technicians are required to complete 24 hours of continuing education credits (CEUs) related to their specialty. This ongoing education ensures that certified professionals stay up-to-date with evolving technologies and methodologies. Of the 24 hours required, eight must be directly relevant to the specialty in which the technician is certified, reinforcing the emphasis on continuous improvement and relevance in the field.
According to a News and Insights of RVIA, RVTI representatives expressed enthusiasm over the collaboration with Jayco, highlighting the value this partnership brings to their training program. “RVTI is excited to welcome Jayco as one of the newest additions to our Level 3 training program,” stated Justin Rickett, senior manager of recruiting at RV Technical Institute.
He emphasized the uniqueness of the Jayco Service School training, noting its comprehensive coverage of multiple specialties within one class, which streamlines the process for technicians seeking certification.
