The DeWItt County Board in Illinois greenlighted a proposal bid by Sullivan Marina & Campground to buy Clinton Lake Marina, according to a Clinton Journal local report.
This decision comes after a bidding process that attracted a total of seven proposals, with figures ranging from $1 million to $2.5 million. The sale considers the financial capability of the bidder to operate and develop the marina, as well as their proven experience in managing similar ventures.
“Some bids did not meet the requirements set forth in the RFP (Request for Proposal),” Dan Matthews, board chairman, said, as quoted in the report.
The county also evaluated the bidders’ development plans, their commitment to honoring existing slip renter leases, and their dedication to maintaining public access to the marina’s facilities. Additionally, the new owners must honor existing contracts, notably the one between the county and the Clinton Lake Sailing Association.
The sale’s approval ensures that the recreational facility remains accessible to the public. These include the continuation of the marina, boat ramp, and parking area as public facilities. The county will not offer any tax abatements as part of the sale agreement. The sale is expected to take effect in May.
