Ruffit Park Campground (Illinois) is scheduled to have its soft re-opening later this summer.

As per a report, the popular camping destination is currently under renovation to bring the electrical systems and bathroom up to code.
The new owners hope to complete the improvements by the end of July.
New owners Matthew and Molly Habben acquired the park in May. Molly is the great-niece of the former owner Maxine Gaumer, who passed away in December.

In its Facebook post, Ruffit Park Campground expressed gratitude to those who helped them throughout the renovation process.
“Every spare minute we have has been spent at the campground. Removing dead trees, started demolition on the store, and have started cutting out camping spots. We already have so many people to thank for all their help, and we’re just getting started,” the post reads.

The Habbens are planning to build a new pool and are awaiting approval from the state. If everything goes according to plan, the pool will be finished next spring.

Although there is no formal announcement, the community has shown overwhelming support for the park’s reopening.
“We made a general post about the park after acquiring it, and within less than a day, it had 20,000 views,” Matthew Habben said.
Ruffit Park Campground is located at 24832 Rock Falls Road in Sterling.
