Illinois’ City of Rochelle is planning to build its ownat the Rochelle Municipal in the near future, City Manager Jeff Fiegenschuh revealed.
The idea was born when trying to coordinate with Chicagoland Skydiving Center located at the, and operates its own , according to a report.
The city would like to see more people attend CSC events and visit the. Fiegenschuh said he wants to ensure this area can be sustained long-term, something the could aid in achieving.
“I really do think theis a valuable asset to the community, and you have the Flight Deck Bar & Grill and CSC, and I think there’s a lot of things we can do to continue to move the forward,” Fiegenschuh said.
“Part of that was the, and if somebody wants to come out and watch the skydivers for a couple of days and CSC’s is full, is there a place we could put them at the where they could stay and enjoy the festivities and earn some rental income for the ?”
In a unanimous vote, the city council approved an update on the. The update allows special use permits for brewpubs, banquet halls, restaurants, assembly/meeting halls, and public facilities.
Fiegenschuh stated that a permanentis included in the city’s five-year plan. He said the city wants to get started on the park “in the next couple of years.”
It would also be an additionalfacility for the entire community apart from the existing REC Center, , tennis courts, and parks. Fiegenschuh described facilities as essential to any community.
“It’s a quality of life issue and what people value, and it’s important to have those types of,” Fiegenschuh said. “The is one key to a successful community. We want to make sure that key is working at all times.”
