Boise National Forest Urges Campers to be Patient with Campground Openings

Boise National Forest (Idaho) reminds campers eager to explore the outdoors and start camping to be patient as they work to open recreation sites.

As per a report, Everardo Santillan, Boise National Forest Recreation’s program manager, said they would like people to be patient as recent weather disrupted their schedule.

Campground openings may be delayed if they aren’t accessible for crews to inspect sites for public safety, take water samples, remove hazard trees and clean the sites,” Santillan said.

The Forest has over 80 developed sites, with most campgrounds opening just in time for Memorial Day weekend.

Roads and campgrounds in higher elevations are still closed due to remaining snowpacks, such as Deadwood Reservoir, Bull Trout Campground, and the Trinity Mountain Recreation area.

According to the US Forest Service, the Boise National Forest’s vast area encompasses more than 2.5 million acres of diverse forest and grassland.

The Boise National Forest is located northeast of Idaho’s capital city of Boise. Recreationists can explore the North Fork Payette River Canyon at 2,800 feet in elevation to the nearly 10,000-foot peak of Trinity Mountain.
