Fisherman’s Cove RV Resort in Palmetto Earns Best Park Award

Fisherman’s Cove RV Resort in Palmetto has received the Best Park Award in the small park category. The award was given by the Florida RV Park and Campground Association (FRVCA), specifically for campgrounds with 50 to 150 sites.

Rob Smith, who co-owns and operates the 133-site park with his son-in-law, JP Winkler, accepted the award. Smith credits their high level of guest service for the recognition, as evidenced by the park’s 480 Google reviews, which boast a 4.7 rating.

Fisherman’s Cove recently underwent a $2 million renovation. The resort now features remodeled RV paver super sites and a range of facilities, including a waterfront pool, fire pit, tiki hut, BBQ kitchen, and outdoor pavilion. According to its website, the resort also offers full RV hookups, a climate-controlled waterfront pool, a jetted hot spa, and a spacious clubhouse with a full kitchen and TV lounge area.

Another highlight of the resort’s amenities is a large clubhouse equipped with a kitchen, game room, and fitness center. This offers guests a variety of indoor activities with views of Terra Ceia Bay.

Within 24,900 acres of aquatic preserve, Fisherman’s Cove is surrounded by natural beauty. Nearby parks such as Robinson Preserve and Emerson Point offer walking trails and kayaking opportunities, while Terra Ceia State Park provides a glimpse into Florida’s wilderness, ideal for fishing and kayaking. Additionally, outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy the bayside putting green, pickleball court, kayaks, and paddleboards.

Fishing is a major draw for many guests at Fisherman’s Cove. Smith mentioned that visitors have access to a 24-hour, 375-foot resort fishing pier and cleaning station, as well as a private boat ramp. He noted that there are 25 mini artificial reefs underneath the pier.

“We just installed the mini reefs last year, but they are already teeming with natural life and successfully filter 750,000 gallons of bay water each day!” Smith added.

Despite its secluded setting on Terra Ceia Bay, Fisherman’s Cove boasts accessibility. It is conveniently located just five minutes from Interstate 75, connecting guests to nearby attractions such as St. Petersburg, Bradenton, Sarasota, and Anna Maria Island.
